For more than a decade, the PUR$L group (including representatives from all Australian States) has articulated a different vision: saltland is also potentially useful for profitable industries in agriculture, forestry, horticulture, aquaculture, minerals and energy.
More than 400 papers have been delivered at previous PUR$L workshops since 1987, and past winners of the W.E. Wood Award have presented W.E.Wood Memorial Lectures at many PUR$L conferences.
Australia's National Dryland Salinity Program was a major sponsor and supporter of PUR$L workshops and activities during Phase 2 of the program.
